Local Extension Offices Provide Free Solutions

Is there such a thing as a free education? Have you ever spent hours looking for the right solution? Contact your local Extension office to find many solutions for your life. At the Extension office, you can educate yourself on topics from A to Z. Our easy to read “how to” publications are developed through research using the most current information. All of this information is free, and you get trained specialists to help guide you to the right solutions. Monroe County Extension has four specialists who provide marine, horticulture, 4H youth development and consumer questions and programs for people and organizations.

Are debt relief agencies a fraud? Where can I buy native plants? What’s the best way to secure my boat for a hurricane? How can I help my kids do better on tests? Unless you know everything, Monroe County Extension Service can help you. Our mission is to empower people to improve their lives and their communities by helping citizens with great solutions.

Your Extension Service is a partnership between the University of Florida IFAS research centers and the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners to help people address issues through education and research. Extension Service provides practical, current, and  information through local extension offices and online. The online gateway is a one-stop source of information that citizens can use in making decisions on family life, gardening, the environment and other topics.

The Monroe County Extension Service is a timesaving and friendly place to learn about new ways to tackle life’s dilemmas. Finding local solutions to local needs, extension faculty members can provide a variety of educational programs. Some of our county programs are Master Gardener training, the Tropical Fruit Fiesta, 4H  youth development, Marine and regional plant clinics. We welcome phone calls, emails, and visits to either of our two offices. The needs of citizens in Monroe County guide what types of educational services are offered by Extension so if your group has an interest in a particular topic; please contact our office to discuss how we can meet your needs.
